A Word from Eleanor Finch

Hello! My name is Eleanor Finch, and I started Youth Finance Brighton because I saw a real need. Growing up right here in Brighton, I noticed how many young people, myself included back then, felt completely lost when it came to money. Schools do a great job with many things, but personal finance often gets left out. That means many young adults step into the world with no idea how to budget, save, or even understand a simple payslip.

I wasn't always a finance wizard, far from it. My own early experiences with money were a bit of a mess, and that taught me a lot. It showed me how important it is to get a proper grasp of your finances early on. It's not about being rich; it's about being prepared, making smart choices, and avoiding unnecessary stress down the line. That personal struggle, combined with seeing friends and family worry about bills or debt, sparked the idea for Youth Finance Brighton.

My goal for Youth Finance Brighton is simple: make money matters clear and easy to understand for everyone aged 14 to 25. We don't use fancy jargon or complex theories. Instead, we focus on practical, everyday skills. Things like setting up a budget that actually works, understanding how credit cards operate (and how to use them responsibly), or even just figuring out what taxes mean for your first job.

I believe learning about money should be straightforward and even a bit enjoyable. Our courses are designed to be hands-on, using real-world examples that resonate with young people today. We talk about saving for university, buying your first car, or even just managing your pocket money. It's about giving young people the tools and confidence they need to make good decisions, whether they're still in school or just starting their careers here in Brighton.

We're not just throwing information at you; we're building a foundation. I want every young person who comes through our doors to leave feeling more confident and capable about handling their finances. It's about more than just numbers; it's about giving them a better chance at a secure and independent future. If you're in Brighton and want to get a grip on your money, we're here to help.
